Tony has become a partner in the business after taking over from his father who recently retired. His extensive experience in a management role has well equipped him for his transition from the corporate workplace in Sydney as the MD of a major telecommunications company to the Managing Director of one of the coasts leading brokerages. A passionate sailor and owner of many sizes and styles of vessel, he was involved in the process of completing construction of a 50' schooner. This process involved numerous local trades and has resulted in a truly magnificent yacht called "CAROLINA". Tony's experience in marketing and technology will ensure that Ensign is kept at the forefront of the marine Industry. With a vision to see Ensign Ship Brokers become a leading force marine brokerage in sales, but more importantly an example for customer service. The launch of the ENSIGN 50 was a key project to which Tony spent much of his time. This vessel set new standards in quality and value for money and the after sales service that Ensign provides is the main difference between competing products.

Peter, Gold Coast born and the "Old Salt" of the crew, gained early boating experience crewing charter boats in the Mediterranean in the seventies. After selling his business in 1980, Peter and some friends bought a 42' Chapelle Gaff Schooner and sailed it to Rhode Island for the successful Australian Americas Cup Challenge in 1983 as a prelude to cruising the Bahamas, Virgin Islands, Caribbean and adjoining areas for the next four years. After returning to Australia and with a couple of businesses behind him, Peter joined Ensign as a boat broker and along with the present co- owner, Tony's father, Jim, bought the long established business. Peter's cruising knowledge and experience is available to any potential customers, and he finds great personal satisfaction finding the right boat to suit the buyer, be it power, house or sail.

Scott has been around boats his whole life, as his Aunty was the head judge of the Bridge to Bridge water ski race for over 20 years, and his family grew up with the ski crew and boat teams. He has been selling boats for over 25 years and loves to do a deal on new and pre-owned boats of all kinds. So if you are after any kind of advice on any boating matters, he is more than happy to help.

Jules has grown up around the ocean and boats his whole life. Helping his dad to build ships at the old Ballina Slipway, the Brunswick Heads Slipway and subsequently the Tweed Heads Slipway planted the seed for his love of boats, the sea and basically constructing and building from scratch anything that moves…cars, bikes, boats, buses, motor homes etc. In 2007 Jules and his family built their own 40 foot motor home and travelled around the coast of Australia for two years experiencing all the amazing places in our very own backyard. On his days off you will find him out in his lovingly restored Seafarer runabout with his family wakeboarding, fishing or skurfing.

Adrian has recently joined the team with great enthusiasm using his experience working on boats both overseas and the Gold Coast. Recently returned from the United Kingdom and Spain is now continuing his career in an industry he has grown up to love. His commitment to work and honesty has built long term relationships with clients all around the world. If he's not out on the water in a boat you will catch him surfing early morning.

Richard is relatively new to Ensign, however he has been in the marine industry on the Gold Coast for more than 20 years, and has held a Coxswain Certificate for over 15 years. A houseboat adventurer all his life, Richard has been around boats since he was 3 years old and loves every minute of it. Honest, reliable and keen to assist, Richard’s experience in commercial boating has included the operation of watersports businesses, charter operations and commercial vessel tuition services. Richard prides himself on his ability to match boaties with the right boats, and through persistence, vigilance and dedication, more times than not, he achieves this result. Always eager to provide assistance in any way possible, Richard is ready to help with your Power Boat, Yacht or Houseboat enquiries whatever they may be.

Mark ...

Cathy has recently become part of the Ensign team! After 20 years in local government, Cathy left her position as Director of Corporate Services to follow her passion with real estate. After 18 successful months with LJ Hooker at Noosa Heads, a property development opportunity in Gladstone beckoned and with her husband Iain, completed a small subdivision. Her friends have always had yachts and Cathy has often crewed for them on weekends and extended trips so it wasn’t a hard decision when friends bought a Bavaria 49’ in Croatia and wanted crew! Six months later after crossing the Atlantic, she left the boat in Antigua. Once back in Gladstone, Ensign Brokers was a natural fit for her yachting and sales experience.

Jan joins us from an extensive Boating and Real Estate background including sales, admin and customer service.

Jan’s interest in boating has gone from recreational to commercial. Her first boat was a sports cruiser called ‘Survivor’ (fantastic name for a first boat!!)

Jan has mainly been involved with power boats, however over the last 9 years has owned and operated a ‘40’ Crowther Custom’ sailing catamaran. This vessel is surveyed and Jan used it for charter on the Gold Coast doing Champagne Sunset Cruises/Day Cruises to Stradbroke Island mainly for the corporate market due the vessels upmarket fit out.

Due to the survey on the catamaran and operating a commercial vessel both Jan and her husband have their coxswain certificates.

Since September 2008 Jan and her husband have been sailing up the east coast of Queensland , stopping in Gladstone for her husbands work (Electrician) on the new luxury apartments being built in Gladstone.

Having worked in the marine industry since 1992, Andy Howden is a qualified marine skipper and engineer.  Andy has spent the past sixteen years working in Australia, the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean.  Originally trained in the technical and customer service aspects of the industry, Andy has always been involved in nautical pursuits himself.  He is a keen sailor, rescue diver and tournament fisherman.

Andy can understand your boating needs and desires.  As a director of Ensign Sydney and the importer of Bavaria boats since 2002, he is committed to giving you a new level of customer service!  Andy represents true versatility as he deals with power boats, catamarans, yachts and houseboats.  Whatever vessel you are after, Andy can be the man to help you find it.
